Las Vegas NBA Summer League Leaders Recap

Leading Scorers:
Damian Lillard (POR) 26.5
Kawhi Leonard (SAS) 25
Josh Selby (MEM) 24.2
Jimmy Butler (CHI) 20.8
Tobias Harris (MIL) 20.8

One of the immediate studs during this year’s summer exhibitions in Las Vegas has been Portland’s sixth pick in the draft, Damian Lillard. The point guard from Weber State University tallied 25 points in his first game. Two days later he continued his groove on offense, scoring 31 points while dropping 7 assists. The Blazers have definitely found a sound rookie in Lillard, a 6-foot-3 guard that can both score and distribute the ball well.

Rebounds Leaders:
Malcolm Thomas (CHI) 12.4
Markieff Morris (PHX) 9.8
Thomas Robinson (SAC) 9.8
Ed Davis (TOR) 9.4
Bernard James (DAL) 9

Malcolm Thomas is a lanky, 6-foot-9 forward that’s hoping to add depth to Chicago’s front court. Thomas entered the 2011 NBA Draft but wasn’t selected by any team, forcing him to take his game overseas for some time. He then returned to the states, playing a lot of games for the NBADL while also having short stints with both the Spurs and the Rockets. This summer he’s been able to make the most of his playing time in Vegas, averaging 13 points and 12 boards for the Bulls.

Assists Leaders:
Kendall Marshall (PHX) 6.5
Kemba Walker (CHA) 5.8
Eric Bledsoe (LAC) 5.7
Scott Machado (HOU) 5.6
Aaron Miles (MIL) 5.6

There were plenty of guards that made some noise during this year’s summer league in Vegas. The Suns may have seen the last of Steve Nash, but have drafted a wide-eyed floor general in Kendall Marshall. The 20-year-old Marshall has put up quiet numbers, progressively getting more productive with each start. In his final game, he finished with a double-double of 15 points and 10 assists.
