74 Reasons to Get Excited for the 74th NBA Season: Reason 34

Reason 34: Where is Michael Redd now?

Everyone remember Michael Redd? The electric scorer from the Milwaukee Bucks that averaged 20+ points per game from 2004-2009, including a career-high 26.7 points per game in the  2006-07 campaign. Unfortunately for the terrific story [a kid who was drafted in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft looking to make himself a household name in the League], the one thing most of us certainly associate Redd with is his latest string of injuries that currently have his NBA career in jeopardy. Redd suffered the first of two knee injuries in 2009, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2009-10 campaign. In the following season, Redd suffered the same injury to the same knee [MCL and ACL tears in left knee], and he mustered to play in just 10 games last season. He averaged 4.4 points per game in just 13.4 minutes a night. He’s known for his three-point shot – posting a career average of 38.3% from three-point range – but the 6’6″ guard’s future is in serious doubt while his deal expired last season. Redd hasn’t given up in the past, and some players would even throw in the towel after one devastating injury of such. With his continued determination and heart, hopefully the former Buckeye can make his way onto a roster and flip the script on what many people these days associate with Micahel Redd.
